Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer systems are used to reinforce pipes to allow them to withstand increased internal pressure, bending stresses, live loads and other loads.

In particular, CFRP can be designed to enhance the structural loss of PCCP pipe, caused by the deterioration of the prestressed cables. CFRP can be applied either to the inside or outside of the pipe. In addition, a protective coating can be applied when exposed to hostile environments.

This rehabilitation technique is very relevant when large diameter pipes cannot be replaced by traditional method, not allowing excavation for example, often due to the presence of a multitude of underground services, thus preventing the replacement of the pipe.
